Power Outages
Information
The values seen in the Power Outages section are the number of member locations out of power by county and a System Total. This number consists of the number of locations involved in managed outages and the number of outage reports that are not yet part of a managed outage. Once enough reports are received and information from other systems is included, a group of outages become a managed outage incident. When this happens the managed outage shows up in the Outages in Progress list. Outages that are limited to individual locations or transformers are not included in the Outages in Progress list but are included in the Power Outage numbers, so the total out shown by Outages in Progress and Power Outages may not be exactly the same number. The information is updated every 5 minutes.
Outages In Progress
Information
Once enough reports are received and information from other systems is included, a group of outages become a managed outage incident. When this happens the managed outage shows up in the Outages in Progress list. Outages that are limited to individual locations or transformers are not included in the Outages in Progress list. Clicking or tapping an individual list item will display detailed information for that outage incident. An incident where the power has been restored will remain on the list for approximate 20 minutes. The information is updated every 5 minutes.
Outages Near Me
Information
When you click or tap the Outages Near Me button the Outage Center will take your location, if you grant it permission, and display the In Progress Outages that are within a distance of about 3 miles in every direction. Since power outages are not a single point but a broad area, the distance to one of those areas may be zero for many locations. The accuracy of the calculation depends on your location, type of Location provided by the mobile device and whether you are moving or not. Please note that most desktop web browsers will provide the information to the Outage Center but this location can be off by many miles. This feature is meant to help you identify the Outage Incident that your home or business is involved in. The information is updated every 5 minutes.
