Any revenue exceeding operating costs is called margins, a portion of which is allocated to members based on their annual electricity purchases. Capital credits are typically retired on an approximately 20-year rotating cycle and credited to active accounts or mailed as checks to the name and address on file. Please keep your contact information updated to ensure you receive your refund.
Capital Credits Refund Policy
Hart EMC retires capital credits on an approximately 20-year rotating cycle, subject to financial requirements and applicable policies. For a refund for a deceased member, please provide a death certificate and one of the following: Letter of Testamentary, Probate Judge form, or Year’s Support documentation.
